Mines and Minds: Bridging the Gap Between Sustainable Mining Operations and Public Perception

Student: Erin Ogrodnik
Community Partner: Vulcan Materials Company
This was a collaborative project between the Institute of Environmental Research and Education and Vulcan Materials Company to fulfill the Hicks Honor College Capstone requirement. The goal of the project was to better understand the perceptions of college students regarding the mining industry and to evaluate the difference between public perception and field operations. This project had two primary components: 1) Research focused on mining industry operations & established studies on public perception on mining. 2) Design and implementation of a Qualtrics survey to poll perceptions of UNF students.
